Customer Requirement
A medical device testing organization, having previously worked with one of our customers, recommended this new customer to us. They help medical device manufacturers get their products to market by ensuring they meet the required regulatory and safety standards in various global markets.
The customer specified his needs “We are intending on starting a pre-clinical medical device animal study using a set of sheep and we were advised that you have been used in previous similar studies. It is my understanding that you sewed loops into a harness to attach custom pouches to. We are interested in a similar setup for our study, and I am in the process of designing enclosures for our electronics. It would be great to understand what the harness looked like in its final form”.
Our Solution
In response to the customer’s request, we provided detailed photographs of both the harness and the accompanying cases. The harness was constructed with an integrated MOLLE system, allowing for modular attachment of accessories and equipment.

MOLLE (Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment) is a durable and flexible attachment system, originally designed for military use but now widely adapted for animal research and fieldwork.
The system features rows of durable nylon webbing sewn onto the animal’s harness or vest, enabling researchers to securely attach field equipment such as GPS units, sensors, or data collection pouches. MOLLE-compatible components are interwoven with the webbing to ensure stability and prevent shifting during movement.
This system provides a customizable and secure way to outfit animals with research tools while maintaining comfort and mobility.

A Velcro covered ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) panel was used inside of the pouch as a placement board for a USB battery. The durable thermoplastic was utilized to help provide enhanced protection for the power cables. Its high impact resistance and structural strength make it ideal for field and laboratory environments where devices may be exposed to rough handling, movement, or varying environmental conditions.
Customer Feedback
The cases worked well, we didn’t hear any complaints from the animal technicians, which I consider a success, especially considering the inclusion of the novel plastic back-plate. We are tracking for an animal study in August, which will need additional pouches and possibly harnesses.
They have since placed several orders, and we sincerely appreciate their continued business and the opportunity to support their needs!
