Customer Requirement
“The customer inquired about a custom sleeve designed to fit a U-shaped canister approximately 4 inches in diameter and measuring roughly 1 foot in width by 2 feet in height. They expressed interest in a solid sleeve construction without the use of zippers or fasteners.”
Our Solution
We developed several prototypes incorporating various design modifications to meet the customer’s specific requirements. The unique shape of the U-shaped canister, combined with its placement inside a cabinet, presented a number of challenges related to fit, accessibility, and ease of installation. These constraints required careful consideration and a series of progressive adjustments throughout the prototyping process
Customer Feedback
The sleeves fit is essentially perfectly. The diameter is spot on, they can be pulled over the lead traps with relative ease (I did it solo in a few minutes) and the new version with no top stitching is able to stretch over the large corners. They do not show any signs of slipping down the traps. The width between the sleeves is perfect, and the corners fit snugly without bunching or stretching, and the door of the unit closes without any interference. The length is also perfect; I think them being a little long and guaranteeing no exposed lead is very preferable to them being the exact length of the traps or slightly short. However these were made, we want all the future sleeves to be made the same way!
Subsequently, we received a substantial follow-up order for additional U-shaped canister covers!
